A good portion of our work has us dealing with celebrity deaths. And today, we will be talking about a recent one of Lance Waldroup from the Discovery series ‘Moonshiners.‘
How did Lance Waldroup Die?
Lance Waldroup was found dead in his North Carolina home by his mother, Lynn Waldroup. She called 911 upon finding her son unconscious and not responding to her. The call was made at 9: 45 PM on February 25, 2021.
Graham County Sheriff’s deputies that responded to the Robbinsville home reported that they found Lance dead and lying on top of his bed. Lance’s mother told the officials that she had talked to her son just 4 hours earlier.
After their conversation, Lance casually went to his bedroom and laid down on his bed, where he mysteriously passed away. Even though the police did not suspect foul play, a medical examiner examined his untimely death.
His Obituary & Tragic Life.
Waldroup’s obituary was quickly put online by ‘Townson Smith Funeral Home’ just a few days after he passed away. Many of us learned through them that Lance “went home to be with the Lord” on February 25 at a very untimely age of 30 years old.
The obituary points out Lance’s tragic life where he lost his sister, Lindsey, when she was just 11 years old, and his brother, Lamar Waldroup, when he was only 20 years old. He also joins all four of his grandparents in death.
It must have been a bigger hell for his parents, Jeff and Lynn Waldroup, who had to lose three children. His memorial service was held from 11 am to 1 pm on March 6, 2021.
Lance Waldroup on Moonshiners.
Star of Discovery’s ‘Moonshiners, and his father, Jeff Waldroup, were both famous for appearing in Discovery’s Moonshiners. But the father-son duo had left the series since 2018.
Jeff Waldroup has appeared in over 70 episodes, while Lance has also been part of 55 episodes. Many fans were not inconvenienced with Jeff and Lance’s exit, with many choosing harsher words to express their distaste for the two cast members.
I liked Jeff when he was paired with Mark, but when they started to include Lance, I found myself no longer interested in their story,” one fan wrote in Reddit. “I’m completely Happy with never seeing Lance again on the show. He was a bumbling idiot,” another one chimed it.
On the contrary, we’re pretty fond of Lance even is a big part of his personality was being a big klutz and making minor mistakes that would cost the pair quite a lot. It was not clear why the Waldroups left ‘Moonshiners,’ but it was theorized that their family had financial troubles.
After all, Jeff Waldroup’s bio on the show was that he was struggling to hold his moonshining business with all the new competition in the liquor industry. We also found Lance selling many items on his Facebook profile, and a ‘Go Fund Me’ was set up to help pay for his funeral.
Official Moonshiners’ Facebook page also posted a tribute for the late Lance Waldroup.
“We are saddened to hear about the loss of Lance Waldroup. An adventurous distiller who was featured alongside his father throughout the early seasons of Moonshiners, Lance was always looking to take his flavorful recipes of ‘shine to new heights,” read the post.
“He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time…” the post concluded.
